Steps For Reaping Your Own Happiness

Steps For Reaping Your Own Happiness

One of my favorite expressions is that “you reap what you sow”. While I often hear it used negatively by someone who expects some “chickens to come home to roost” I prefer to think of it as something positive. How comforting to think that all our hard work and toil will be rewarded with a crop of something good? How wonderful to think that putting love and care into some project or person will indeed be rewarded.

Of course, while most Americans give lip service to the notion of our right to pursue happiness, all too many people do not really believe it applies to them. Many people simply believe they don’t deserve happiness. And even those few who do believe it seem to accept unhappiness as simple bad luck.

Every person does indeed deserve happiness and what is more happiness is contagious. The more happy people there are around then even more people will find happiness. We owe it ourselves to work on our own happiness and we owe it to society as well. Our own happiness will help others and inspire others to find happiness. If we are unhappy then we are likely making others unhappy as well (even if unintentionally) and it is extremely unlikely we are doing much to contribute to the happiness of others.

So how do you become a happy person? You simply reap your own happiness. But how? Take these four simple steps:

Step one — Ready Yourself For Happiness

You can accomplish this step by first determining that you want to be happy. Part of being happy is wanting to be happy. Once you have committed yourself to the course of finding happiness for yourself then you must rid yourself of the notion that happiness is luck or based on possessions or persons. No thing and no one can make you happy. Happiness comes from within yourself.

Step two — Envision Yourself As Happy

Every day when you first wake up and at various points during the day spend some time envisioning yourself as a happy person. Picture yourself laughing, smiling, relaxing. Imagine yourself as happy. The more you can fix this image of yourself as happy in your mind then the easier it will be for you to truly become happy.

Step three — Assume You Will Be Happy

Many people tend to assume that they will spend much of their lives either unhappy or at least not really happy. However we have all seen those people who do seem to be genuinely happy with their lives. They smile frequently, laugh often, and seem to be in good humor most of the time. Yet this is not because they are richer or more successful. Sometimes these people were just born with the good fortune to have an optimistic outlook that life has not yet knocked out of them, but often these people have simply chosen that they will be happy and they recognize that there is always something about their lives that makes them happy. You know this is true of yourself as well. Concentrate on the areas of your life that give you happiness whenever you feel unhappiness seeping in and no matter what assume that you will be, you can be, a happy person.

Step four — Pursue Your Happiness

Happiness is rarely a wonderful accident of fate. Happiness is rarely found by accident. While you may find happiness in unexpected places you must first open yourself to the possibility of happiness and prepare yourself to accept it when you find it. Some people are so miserable that they step right around happiness when they encounter. Don’t let this happen to you. What is more, don’t simply sit at home waiting for happiness to come knocking on your door. Go out and live life. Think about what currently makes you happy and spend time in those activities and think about what might make you happy and spend time experimenting. The more time you spend actively living your life then the more likely that you will also lead a happy life.

Remember, you deserve a happy life and you can lead a happy life, but in the end you reap what you sow. If you are sowing happiness in your life then you will reap happiness as well.

Mindset Development Training – Choose to be Happy

Mindset Development Training – Choose to be Happy

Are you happy? Do you wake up in the morning and say to yourself: I choose to be happy today?

Many people don’t. They wake up the same grumpy person because they are doing the same things over and over. Running late for work, sitting in traffic, getting to work to find out there’s a meeting in the conference room no one wants to be at.

Why don’t we choose to be happy? Everything’s a choice. Happiness is a choice. Some people may disagree with this because they don’t understand this concept. Many people don’t know happiness is a choice because it’s been conditioned out of our lives. The economy, stresses in marriage, and work don’t have room for a happy and grateful heart.

Happiness is an emotional spirit that comes and goes in all of us. Happiness is a choice and is always under our control.

Happy people develop a servants heart, meaning they already are happy with themselves and now they can be of service to those who have the potential to be happy, but don’t know it yet.

Happy people know that choosing happiness is to choose to have a grateful heart. They know that when certain stresses in life present themselves, they don’t get bothered by the situation. Instead they ask themselves: What can be good about this?

Happiness is magnetic. Everyone wants to be around a happy person. People that smile and give off this enthusiastic persona will get followed by others. People swarm to the enthusiastic. Happy people are leaders!

Never forget the power of a smile. Smiles can calm emotional discomforts and distresses others posses. Smiles will tell a simple story that says: it’s not so bad. So smile at every person you greet.

Happy people with a grateful heart will always be thankful people. Happy people thank everyone. Most people don’t get thanked in this world, so start thanking those that do the simple things in our lives that make the biggest impact.

Happy people have been know to make more money because they have been presented with more opportunities from other happy people.

Choose to be happy, today. Choose to have a grateful spirit. As Andy Andrew quotes in his book “The Traveler’s Gift: “Just as a fresh breeze cleans smoke from the air, so a grateful spirit removes the cloud of despair.”

So choose to be someone that others want to be around. Choose to have a happy and grateful heart so you can give thanks, and smile at every opportunity when you talk to someone else because few people do it.

I appreciate the opportunity to serve you today with this mindset development training concept,

Types of Happiness

Types of Happiness

There are different types of happiness that different people are experiencing. While there may not be an exact term for them I will call them kind of happy, pretty happy, and really happy people.

Kind of happy – These people are not completely miserable. They do complain about stuff and find that there are lots of trials and tribulations that they go through but they can see the positive side of things sometimes and they normally say things like “Well, at least this didn’t happen to me”.

They seek out and hang on to pleasures when they want to be happy like movies, games, and even drugs such as alcohol or cigarettes. These things make them happy and while engaging in these things they are at their happiest. They go through life in a routine type of way and are satisfied with what they do.

Many people find themselves kind of happy throughout their whole lives and are content with that type of emotion.

Pretty Happy – These people are engaged in life and their surroundings. These are the people that know what matters to them in life and have a sense of awareness and appreciation that other people do not.

They know where they are in life and where they are going and are staying on a positive vibration to get there. They say things like “How can I make this better?” in regards to their lives and relationships and they strive and usually succeed in making those results come true.

Really Happy – These people are living an extremely meaningful life. They know who they are, how they got there, and what they can offer for others and this world. And they do offer themselves to other people without question. They not only want their lives to be happy but they truly want others to succeed and be happy as well. They feel good about themselves and what they have accomplished at the end of the day and they look forward to what tomorrow will bring.

There are many people who do not fit into these categories and are living a life of not being happy at all. They do not see the bright side of their own life so they can’t make anyone else happy. They tend to engage in complaining and miserable banter and they make other people’s lives worse instead of better.

The goal that people should have in mind is to work your way up the ladder to become really happy but many people end up staying in kind of happy or pretty happy and find that they eventually just believe that this is it for them or that this is as good as it gets, and they stop trying to achieve complete happiness.

But once you start to realize that there is a better way of living and get a small taste of that then you will realize that complete happiness is a constant journey and something to strive for always – as life should be full of happiness and joy.

At the end of your life wouldn’t it be nice to go to bed knowing that you gave other people and this world all the happiness and joy you possibly could?

Be an Epicure of Happiness

Be an Epicure of Happiness

Some people are lucky enough to possess genes that foster happiness. However, happiness can be a matter of choice, not just luck.

The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way! There is a glow about them. They are confident in who they are. To them life is a pleasure and an adventure. They aren’t simply trying to be happy; they truly are!

David Lykken, whose name in Norwegian, means “the happiness” noted that “certain thought patterns and interpersonal skills definitely help people become an epicure of experiences”. Take a group of happy people and you will probably come across some or all of the following attributes.

They Can Navigate Through A Current
Sometimes life happens, and the best made plans are laid to rest. However when one falls into a pattern of constantly making excuses, even if only to oneself, it will eventually make an impression on an individuals dynamics, success or happiness. Happy people are adept at taking life in hand. So ultimately life works for them, not against them! This is commonly referred to as “Living In the Flow”.

When something is important, make time even if for just a few minutes. And soon it won’t even have to be considered – it will just happen!

They are Attentive of the Influences Surrounding Them
The people who surround us, the books we read, the entertainment we view – all set a tone or quality to our experience and are forecasters of how happy we feel. Happy people pinpoint then give precedence to rewarding and satisfying aspects in their life. Situations charged with “melodrama” aren’t given influence, so they fall to the wayside.

They “Milk” their Assets
Happy people use their personal strengths to get things done. Everyone possesses unique assets. And we each have different talents and skill sets. So why not use them to ones advantage!

Blind since infancy, Stevie Wonder exploited his sense of hearing and his passion for music. He has 25 Grammy Awards and is a master in his field. Best known as the creator of the Harry Potter fantasy series, J.K Rowling started writing at the age of six. She has also become a notable philanthropist, supporting a variety of charities.

They Abandon Delusions
If only I could—come upon a job that really suits me—meet my “perfect” match—get rid of these extra pound—life would be “perfect”. Happy people know better than to even go there!

People misjudge their contentment and can be overly critical of themselves when they put the limelight on one segment of their life. In one study, single subjects were asked, “How happy are you with your life in general?” and “How many dates did you have last month?” When the dating question was asked first, their romantic life weighed more heavily into how they rated their overall happiness than when the questions were reversed. Happy people are wise to this. They step back and take in the big picture, not just a sliver. If a few “kinks” are found here and there, they are dealt with, or are left to just “be”.

They Sift for An Appropriate Conclusion
The conclusion or outcome of any adventure can make a profound imprint on a person’s overall impression of their experience. If the outcome is equitable, the experience will naturally yield happiness. Happy people look at options that assist them to tie up loose ends and, if possible, conclude matters on a high note.

They Opt to Live Life – Full Out
As much as we all think we want to be happy, many of us have deep rooted beliefs that it’s wrong to be happy (or be too happy). This belief can stem from a religion, culture, or family dynamics and can leave one feeling guilty if they are having fun and are happy.

Research shows that happy people tend to be more open and willing to be of assistance to others. Happy people routinely carry out random acts of kindness without a lot of deliberation as it is inherent for them.

We are able, compassionate beings who are capable of not only giving but also receiving. Giving ourselves the high five and opening to it ALL (though our participation) thus enjoying the whole “enchilada”, would seem to be a very satisfying way to travel through life, as it insures a fulfilling existence.

Their Joy Stems from Many Simple Pleasures
Pleasures come in all forms. They appear here and there at coincidental moments. You reach into your pocket and find a bill from the last time you wore these jeans. You aren’t rich, but you are richer than you were a second earlier. Welcoming these occasions will bring unexpected sprinkles of happiness throughout the day.

True happiness is priceless. It can’t be bought, and no one can hand it to us. It is part of the human experience, and it comes from within us. Just as soon as one makes the decision to be happy, regardless of their circumstances, it manifests.
